Distressed/handscraped floors are becoming extremely popular these days. As hardwood floor heritage restoration specialists, I have to admit that i roll my eyes a little bit when i see an “Antiqued” or “Distressed” hardwood floor that was manufactured on a soul-less factory conveyer belt somewhere in China. I totally understand why someone would want to have this look: it is unbelievably cool when it is has some soul to it. After attending numerous NWFA technical school courses as a student and now a teacher, I have learned many old school tricks working side by side with some of the very best hardwood floor men on the planet. Creating a legit “antiqued” hardwood floor was one of the skills that i have picked up through my NWFA mentors Frank Kroupa and Daniel Boone. During this youtube clip, i go into detail how we would go about creating you the coolest floor in the city. I hope you enjoy the video.
